Intimate Chicago Wedding // Crystal Gardens Navy Pier // Kinzie Street Bridge // Aimee & Matt

Wedding season 2013 is here! For my first wedding this year I had the honor of capturing Aimee and Matt’s intimate Chicago wedding. With about 80 guests, the size was just perfect for their Spring wedding celebration. The Crystal Gardens at Navy Pier hosted both the ceremony and reception, and was the perfect tropical respite for this years chilly Spring. Although we did get lucky and had some lovey blue skies for our outdoor pictures! Making all the magic come together was planning by Joan and her team at Five Grain Events! Fantastic!

Chicago, preceremony preparation, spring, veil, wedding, wedding dressI love, love that Aimee chose to wear a long veil for part of the day! It always makes for some great images–especially with a little wind.

The couple snuck out to see each other for the first time and for a few quiet moments together before heading out on the trolley for pictures. This was the cute little courtyard behind their home.

We were all so excited the the sun made an appearance (it had been snowing a tiny bit that morning!) I love incorporating a little bit a lens flare from the sun!

I love Navy Pier in the Spring! Not as many tourists visiting this great Chicago landmark at this time of year (although I did have a woman stop and ask if she could take a camera phone picture of the lovely couple!)

The above black and white picture was shot with my DSLR that I had converted to infrared. I loved infrared photography in college, and decided to convert a DSLR a few years back to incorporate a little of it into my wedding photography–also, they don’t really make infrared film anymore. No special effects or Photoshop for my infrared shots…I guess you can call me a purist!

The ceremony was short and sweet and just beautiful! The gorgeous natural light of the Crystal Gardens, and beautiful florals from Forget Me Knodt made for a lovely exchange of vows. I love all the color and texture that Aimee selected in her florals!

The linens from BBJ Chicago were just gorgeous…so luxurious, and such a pretty color of pale green!

The bride and groom’s first dance is one of my favorite moments of the reception.

After dinner, the dance floor was open! Thanks to Just Press Play, a close friend of the bride was able to DJ! Let the party begin!
